Preview of a Larger Project: OUR LADY OF PERPETUAL HELP

This poor copy of the classic Icon of Mary is just the tip of the iceberg for a very big project that I have been working on the past two weeks. It is actually a very small piece of a larger drawing, but as that drawing has a very specific publication date, I have been witholding it from the site so far. Aware that I have many faithful and loyal site browsers (thank you all!) I wanted to at least put up a preview of a project that I am VERY excited about and can't wait to share with all of you. I hope that you will be patient with me, and know that when I post the entire project, it will be a very big post. Thank you for visiting, and look for my newsletter, which will (per the aforementioned delay) also be late by about a week. I hope that the wait will be as much worth it to you as it is to me.
Incidentally, for those unfamiliar with this image, the Icon of Our Lady of Perpetual Help portrays a legend that spread among early Christians. This legend told a story of Jesus being frightened as a child when angels appeared to Him, showing Him a glimpse of the cost of our salvation in the instruments of His Passion (note the Cross, the spear and sponge). Mary comforts Jesus with great tenderness, as she longed to do when His hour finally came. I would suggest that her presence there, above that of all other human beings, reminded Him of the purpose of His coming - to make all of humanity new, beautiful, and spotless in the eyes of His Father.
Our Lady of Perpetual Help, pray for us!
