This year's nativity is another copy of a painting by Matthias Stom, though I must say that I am less pleased with this attempt. I got a bit impatient with the darker parts of the drawing and it needs some work yet. I did take some liberties with the original. The Shepherd in the center is holding a shepherd's crook now, but before was holding a basket with a freshly killed duck in it. This seemed a bit odd to me, and I like it with my changes. The Christ child seems almost to be reaching for the Shepherd's "rod and staff, now the focal point of the scene.
