Sacred and Eucharistic Heart of Jesus

This is a drawing I am particularly proud of. It is the fruit of a Eucharistic day of recollection that I attended at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Rocky Mount, NC. Our pastor gave a very moving talk about how Jesus reveals Himself to us throughout our lives, slowly revealing to us how much He loves us. Father told us that his mother described it to him in this way: "Its like Jesus pulls aside the folds of his garment to reveal His Sacred Heart to us, but only a little bit at a time, because if He revealed all of His Love at once, we would not be able to withstand it. He reveals Himself to us as we have the capacity to receive that revelation." (paraphrased) I tried to illustrate this beautiful description here, with the Eucharistic Host in the center of Jesus' Sacred Heart, the "Light [that] shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it." The image of Jesus' Heart I completed while in Adoration at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Raleigh. Our pastor's mother's description reminds me of this quote from St. John Vianney: "If we knew how much God loves us, WE WOULD DIE FROM HAPPINESS."
