THE PRIESTLY PRAYER OF CHRIST

This drawing is another treasure from the past that I recently came across. I drew this image when I was still in Seminary, and it was drawn for the 4th Theology class that year, many of whom are now ordained priests. I depicted each of them as Apostles at the last supper, just after the washing of the feet. Jesus is portrayed praying his beautiful prayer to the Father (John 17). The seven lamps above the scene stand for the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit, which will be poured out per Jesus' prayer upon His Apostles (His Priests). The dog in the foreground is a fun addition - it is actually a portrait of the Rector's dog (the Rector is essentially the president or chancellor of the seminary). Her presence symbolizes fidelity, and the vigilance that Jesus would instruct his disciples to observe later that fateful night. (Matthew 26:41)

  2. Dear David,

My copy is hanging framed in my rectory living room. I have no TV and so it is prominant.

    With my prayer,
Fr. Kent Ouellette (Far left, seated with hands on the table - glad you drew me with no glasses.)
